Countering Hate: Nordic Conference on Hate Speech

Hate speech can be broadly defined as degrading, threatening, harassing or stigmatizing speech, which affects individuals or a group. It has major consequences for its victims, and for society as a whole. Knowledge and experiences on how to combat hate speech are the subjects of the conference in Stavanger on 21 June 2017.

Nordic and international experts, researchers, civil society activists, media and government representatives gathers to discuss how we can combat hate speech. Youth organisations and activists are especially encouraged to participate. Gender-based hate speech and youth perspectives are emphasized throughout the conference.

The conference will be in English.
