IRiS Roundtable Series: Race and Superdiversity: what are the links?

Wednesday 11 November 2015, 13:00 – 16:00pm, University of Birmingham

The third roundtable in IRiS Key Concepts Series will bring together leading thinkers in this field to start a conversation about the implications of, and interrelationships between, superdiversity and race from a critical perspective.

The roundtable will address three questions:

  • Has the way we think about race changed with the emergence of superdiversity?
  • How might a superdiversity lens help us to address processes of racialization in contemporary society?
  • Are new forms of discrimination and/or oppression emerging in the context of superdiversity?

Short presentations will contemplate conceptual and theoretical dimensions of these issues and will be followed by an open discussion.
