Leeds Safe Online Project

A new session has been designed by the Peace Museum to explore the dangers posed by online grooming, hate crime and radicalisation.

Aimed at parents, Safe Online will encourage engagement through the delivery of an online safety session to children in school, who will then prepare a presentation for parents at an assembly.

The session for the children will enable them to:

  • Build awareness around strategies used by perpetrators
  • Understanding the techniques used online to spread hate messages
  • Reduce vulnerability to manipulative content
  • Develop critical thinking skills when engaging with online content
  • Increase confidence in understanding how to stay safe online

The session for the parents will enable them to:

  • Build awareness around strategies used by perpetrators
  • Understand the techniques used online
  • Recognise the signs of someone who may be succumbing to grooming
  • Give practical guidance on what to do if presented by malicious content
  • Signpost further support for those who may need it
