This is a full-day course for teachers, youth workers, heads of year, pastoral staff, ALNcos or anyone with an interest in tackling identity-based incidents in schools.

New statutory duties require schools to monitor and collate a range of equality data in order to eliminate racism, homophobia and other forms of identity-based discrimination.

The overall aims and objectives of the course are:

  • Recognising racist or homophobic incidents
  • Understanding the impact of racism, homohobia and other forms of discrimination
  • Knowing how to respond to different incidents appropriately
  • Deciding when to record or report an incident
  • Exploring the statutory duties on schools.
