RJ Week 2017: B&H Restorative City – strengthening our communities

In June 2016, Brighton & Hove’s Community Safety Partnership (Safe in the City) introduced a Restorative Champions Network to enable organisations and services in the city to embed restorative practices as a means to repairing harm and restoring relationships. These organisations included Brighton & Hove City Council, Sussex Police, Brighton & Hove Independent Mediation Service, Office of the Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner and some schools and supported housing providers.

This year, the event’s focus is around how restorative approaches can support all our neighbourhoods, communities and people to feel happy, welcome and safe.

The event will be hosted by:

  • Larissa Reed (BHCC Executive Director – Neighbourhoods, Communities & Housing)
  • Tim Read (BHCC Restorative Practices Development Officer)

This year’s key note speakers will be:

  • Lucy Jaffe (Director | Why Me? Victims for Restorative Justice) Restorative Justice & Hate Crime – the national picture
  • Fionnuala Ratcliffe (Policy & Communications Officer | Restorative Justice Council) introducing the new RJC film ‘Voices of young people’
