Challenging Racism & Hate Crime

Show Racism the Red Card is a leading anti-racism educational charity with extensive experience of delivering equality training. This FREE event is aimed at individuals, organisations, volunteers and networks working in Voluntary and Community sector, including Local Authorities within the Sunderland, Gateshead, Newcastle, Northumberland, South Tyneside, North Tyneside area.

Racism and hate crime are sadly on the increase. The contemporary context calls more than ever for those working in and with communities to be well informed, skilled, confident and able to respond to racism and hate crime.

This training aims to offer participants an open, non-judgmental environment to explore issues relating to racism and consider practical strategies to challenge negative attitudes and create safe, welcoming and inclusive spaces.

This training aims to help participants to:

  • Explore the contemporary context of racism, its causes and consequences
  • Enable delegates to recognise racist incidents and explore how to respond to them most appropriately
  • Encourage participants to embed equality throughout their workplace
  • Explore appropriate language relating to ethnicity
  • Inform participants about appropriate referral pathways fro reporting hate crime

Lunch, Tea and Coffee will be provided.

Please note there is limited free parking at the venue. There is further parking avaliable opposite the venue at 80p per hour.

The conference will start at 9.30am prompt, however tea and coffee will be avaliable from 9am.
