Gender ‘Hostility’ Rape, And The Hate Crime Paradigm

In commemoration of Holocaust Memorial Day, Dr Mark Walters explores contemporary gendered sexual violence in the context of our understanding of ‘hate crime’.

Dr Walters is a Senior Lecturer in Law at Sussex University and co-founder of the International Network for Hate Studies.

He has published widely in the field of hate crime, focusing in particular on the criminalisation of hate-motivated offences, the use of restorative justice in hate crime cases, and criminological theories of causation.
